| Seven kids enjoying a summer at camp
get more of an adventure than they bargained for when they're unexpectedly transported to
the digital world. Soon after their arrival, each kid is befriended by a digimon, a
digital monster. The kids and their partner digimons bond quickly and the little creatures soon prove more than good company. Not only do the digimons band together to protect their human friends, they each have the ability to transform into giant champion digimons to fight other giant digimons seeking to harm the kids. Some of the giant monsters the kids and their companion digimons encounter are genuinely evil, but some are good monsters that are inexplicably behaving like evil monsters. The kids learn that a black force is spreading across the didgiworld. Good digimon are being corrupted by black gears imbedded in their bodies. Our heroes discover that the devices they mysteriously receive just before being swept into the digiworld are the most effective weapons against the malignant black gears. Once the black gear is destroyed, any afflicted good digimon is restored to it's natural personallity. Despite their desire to return home, the kids are drawn into the mystery surrounding the black gear and the evil threatening the digiworld. Ably assisted by their partner digimons, the courageous group sets out on the adventure of a lifetime. |

Taichi "Tai" Kamiya Personality: Born leader, adventurous, athletic Digimon partner: Koromon, Agumon, Greymon, Metal Greymon |
| Taichi is the leader of
the group who enjoys action and adventure. When he first joined the team, Taichi thought
that it was easy being a leader but soon realized that empathy and compassion are
necessities when building and leading a team. Koromon/Agumon is Taichi's Digimon, an impetuous little warrior who protects Taichi from all evil and learns with Taichi important lessons about leadership. |

| Sora is the responsible
one of the group. She acts as an older sister for the group, always keeping an eye out for
everyone. Koromon/Agumon is Sora's Digimon. She's a calming influence who tries to get Sora to lighten up and not take everything so seriously. |

Yamato "Matt" Ishida Personality: Cool and full of attitude Digimon partner: Tsunomon, Gabumon, Garurumon |
| Yamato is the rebel of
the group. He's introspective and sensitive, but tries to hide his feelings hoping nobody
will notice. He's rebellious in the way that he rejects Taichi's leadership. He's used to
being on his own and he doesn't like guidance. Koromon/Agumon is Matt's Digimon. He's there to teach Matt how to avoid confrontations and serve as Matt's mentor. |

| Takeru is Matt's little
brother who has the tendency to get in over his head trying to impress his brother. He's
the little boy trying to be brave in the face of life-changing events. Tokomon/Patamon is TK's Digimon and playmate. He is also a nurturing parent substitute in a tiny package. |

Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi Personality: Computer whiz Digimon partner: Motimon/Tentomon/Kabuterimon |
| Koushiro was nick-named
Izzy. He is the "thinker" of the group. Izzy spends so much time trying to
figure things out that sometimes he misses out on the actual experience. Motimon/Tentomon is Izzy's Digimon who reminds Izzy to stay focused. Tentomon is always there to put things into perspective, he's an intelligent little monster who is a wealth of information. |

| Mimi is the
self-centered individual of the group. Although she likes to be the focal point of every
situation, once she gets beyond herself she is a very sweet girl. Tanemon/Palmon is Mimi's Digimon. Palmon teaches Mimi the importance of taking care of others and helps draw Mimi out of her self-centeredness. |

Joe Kido Personality: Nervous, easily frightened, hypochondriac Digimon partner: Bukamon/Gomamon/Ikkakumon/Zudomon |
| Joe is the voice of
reason for the group. Due to his over-analyzing of all situations, Joe has difficulty
making decisions. He's a worrier who believes that something will go wrong with every
decision he makes. Bukamon/Gomamon is Joe's Digimon. Gomamon has the power of talking to the fishes and is constantly after Joe to loosen up and make the best of the situation. He believes that the value of life is in your friendships. |
